Twilight Sad - It Won/t Be Like This All the Time post punk 2019

It Won/t Be Like This All the Time is incredibly compact in it's 47 minute running time. Every song has a purpose, and stuff like 'I/m Not Here [missing face]' and 'Girl Chewing Gum' is downright incredible, they nail the feeling of isolation and loneliness while keeping the post punk spirit in tact. That's pretty damn hard to pull off, not because post punk is inherently a happy genre, it definitely is not, but because the band is actively seeking out to be upbeat in nature. Lyrics aren't incredibly complex or interesting but it absolutely gets the job done, the vocal delivery, while weird at first, matches up brilliantly with everything else at play. Great instrumentals, cool interpretation of the post-punk and gothic rock themes/sound. Maybe they're one of those bands that champions instrumentation and vocal quality over the importance of lyrics, who knows.
